1989 Darlene Chapman-Cummings
founded P.A.P.A with six members who passed the commitment test (i.e. grocery bagging, passed out positive message flyers,
cleaned senior center home, block clean up.)
Young Persons Dinner
Dance at the Dixon House to recruit volunteers for the Horizon House.
1990
-1996 Arts and crafts every Wednesday at the Dixon House and other activities including dances and Christmas Caroling.
1993
-1998 Families in the community had the opportunity to spend
quality time together at the beach in Ocean City, Md.
2000 First
annual Halloween/Harvest black party. 400 in attendance.
Second annual Christmas
Caroling. (Police and Fire Stations, Nursing Homes, Emergency Rooms, Individual Homes)
2003 Legitimized
the organization. We selected a site for the Community Center. Joined the Point Breeze Community Coalition and South Philadelphia
Homes Association.
2004 We were selected
by Community Collaborative Design to do a feasibilitystudy at the site chosen for the Community Center.
2005 Started
a Women’s support group for victims of incest.
